My work is in the area of sociology of food. My research focuses on the perception and racialization of ethnic food in the US, and how cultural identity, ethnicity and social class come together at the table. I recently wrote, produced and directed a food documentary titled Tables of Istanbul, and using video and personal story telling to approach my research has shifted my perspective. I would like to explore more visual and imaginative methodologies in the future as well.
