Sally Campbell Galman is an anthropologist, mother, feminist, cartoonist, raconteur, poetess, dreamer, believer, reader and adventurer. She received her PhD from the University of Colorado at Boulder and is currently a Professor of Child and Family Studies at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. As an arts-based anthropologist of childhood, her research focuses on the study of young children and gender with a focus on those who are transgender or otherwise gender-diverse. An award-winning visual artist, she is the cartoonist behind the Shane the Lone Ethnographer series of ethnographic methods texts.  Best of all, she has a brand new graphic novel about the lives of transgender youth in the works as we speak!
