Dear CIE members,
Now that the fall is at our doorstep, we wanted to let you know about a few announcements for the upcoming year.
For the ones who are on the West Coast of Canada, we are having our first of this year’s “Conversations with Unusual Suspects series” titled Ethnography, Art and the Sensorial with Simone Rapisarda Casanova and denielle elliott, next Thursday, September 21 (SFU/W Goldcorp Centre for the Arts, Room 4955). Stay in touch for the upcoming seminars.
We are excited to announce that the CIE is an official collaborator of the Canadian Anthropology Society (CASCA) annual meeting that will take place in Santiago de Cuba from May 16 to 20, 2018. We are planning panels, exhibits and performance sessions, and a film festival. We would like to invite you to take part in this historical event. If you have any ideas, suggestions, please contact us. You can find more information about the CASCA-CUBA conference one the website: cascacuba.com. In case many CIE members decide to go to Cuba for CASCA-CUBA, we will hold a general assembly to discuss the future trajectory of our cyber collective.
It is time for us to revamp our website to a smaller and more manageable version. You will soon see some changes happening on our website. We will bring the blog page at the forefront of our virtual activities and we would like to encourage you to contribute with stories, reviews, reports, etc. All of our blog entries will be shared on social media. We will create an archive folder in which previous contributions will be kept and will remain accessible to visitors.
We thank you for your support and we look forward to hearing back from you,
Alexandrine, Dara, denielle, Cristina, and Magdalena
